The Vocations and Training team is headed by The Revd Preb Dr Jeanette Hartwell, and encourages, nurtures and equips those exploring vocations and those training for formal ministry. Discernment and support for lay and ordained ministry is offered by a team of Vocation Advisers, Diocesan Assessors, Directors for Ordinands and Vocations and Training Coordinators.
The team offers a range of training and resources for discipleship as well as diocesan training for Lay Ministry.

The Revd Preb Dr Jeanette Hartwell
Director of Ministry
Jeanette has overall responsibility for the Vocations & Training Team. The team incorporates: Lay training (including Reader training), Curate training, licensing and ordination, continuing ministerial development (CMD), ministry development review (MDR) and clergy wellbeing. She also oversees the Team as they aim to encourage people across the diocese to think about, and discover, their vocation. |
The Revd Preb Romita Shrisunder
Bishops’ Director of Ordinands / aka BDO Romita has the responsibility for encouraging and nurturing vocations to ordained ministry. She is also responsible for establishing and implementing ordination strategies in the diocese. Romita also oversees the team of Assistant Directors of Ordinands. |
Clare Whitney
Lay Ministerial Learning and Development Officer Clare has responsibiliity for Reader development and other forms of lay ministry training. Clare acts as personal tutor to Readers in training, liaising with our partner theological education provider, The Queen’s Foundation. She serves on the Queen’s Reader Advisory Group and the Diocesan Reader Council. |

Assistant Director of Ordinands Peter is another of the privileged members of the team who has the chance to help people explore their vocation |
Helen Scheven
Executive Assistant to the Vocations and Training Team Helen works with those at the beginning of their vocational journey and with those interested in lay ministries. Helen supports those on Reader Training and also oversees Pathways.

Angela Bruno
Executive Assistant to the BDO Diocesan Data Manager Angela works with those exploring ordination, training for ordained ministry and those in curacy. Angela is a key point of liaison between the diocese and ordinands/curates throughout initial ministerial training. |
Cath Hughes
Vocations and Training Co-ordinator Cath looks after Reader Licences and PtOs and those at the early stages of exploring their vocation.
