Safeguarding Training is valid for three years from the date of attendance and all participants are strongly advised to keep their certificate as a record and proof of completion. Your licence to minister is dependent upon you holding valid and in date safeguarding training. If you have undertaken Leadership or C3 Safeguarding during the last three years in another diocese within the Church of England, please send proof of your attendance/completion of the course to Kim Hodgkins in order that we can ensure your record is kept up to date.
The National Safeguarding Team (NST) have advised that the Basic Awareness and Foundation online training modules (formerly C0 and C1) are now of such a high standard that they meet the training needs of all lay volunteer leaders in churches, including church wardens. Please note those who hold a Bishop's Licence or Commission including Readers and Churchwardens where churches are in interregnum and Parish Safeguarding Coordinators are required to complete the additonal Leadership Module via Zoom training sessions. Please contact Julia Dixon if you wish to enroll on a Leadership training module.
Basic Awareness, Foundations and Safer Recruitment and People Mangement modules can be found online - safeguardingtraining.cofeportal.org/
Basic Awareness and Foundations modules can be downloaded to facilitate small group presentations either face to face or via Zoom. Please contact Julia Dixon if you require access to these materials.
The Safeguarding team will continue to deliver all Safeguarding Leadership Pathway training (which has replaced the former C3) via zoom until further notice. Cohorts of delegates will continue to be invited to training opportunities whilst the training remains via zoom.
The National Safeguarding team have released an induction module for new Parish Safeguarding Coordinators which is now being rolled our via zoom. Parish Safeguarding Coordinators are also required to undertake Safeguarding Leadership Pathway training - it is envisaged that they will undertake this module as and when their previous C2 training expires or for new Parish Safeguarding Coordinators after their initial induction training.
All Clergy with PTO (Permission to Officiate) will continue to undertake the Safeguarding Leadership Pathway training.
The Safer Recruitment and People Management module has now been released on the Church of England portal and can be accessed at safeguardingtraining.cofeportal.org/.
If you wish to learn more about Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking, there are now two online courses and additional resources including videos and case studies produced by the Church of England and the Clewer Initiative.
