The hope at the heart of Christianity and its relevance to 21st century life will be showcased at a special event hosted by the Bishops of Ludlow and Shrewsbury.
A Reason For Hope the Shropshire Churches Conference will be held on Saturday 18 November at the Trinity Centre in Meole Brace, Shrewsbury.
As well as keynote speaker the Revd Dr Michael Lloyd, Principal of Wycliffe Hall Oxford, there will be workshops looking at issues including science and religion, hope in the midst of suffering, new forms of local church, the role of faith in everyday life, the church and farming in post-Brexit Shropshire and practical work to support ex-prisoners as they re-integrate into local communities.
The conference, which happens every two years, is a joint initiative between the dioceses of Lichfield and Hereford, hosted by the Bishop of Shrewsbury, the Right Revd Mark Rylands, and the Bishop of Ludlow, the Right Revd Alistair Magowan.
Bishop Mark said: This conference is about giving Christians the confidence to engage with some of the big themes of our modern world. In an age of uncertainty in our personal lives, our communities and our country, the message of hope at the heart of the Christian faith is more important than ever. It will be great to bring people together from across Shropshire to explore these ideas with Michael Lloyd and see hope in action through the rich variety of workshops on offer.
Bishop Alistair said: "This conference is a must for all those wanting to be confident Christians. Michael Lloyd brings wit, learning and theological depth to the big issues of our contemporary age. There are workshops covering a wide variety of things relating to the sharing of faith. This will be a day to stimulate the mind and encourage the heart."
