Local Ministry and Learning Platform Officer

It is an exciting time in the Diocese of Lichfield as we develop our diocesan strategy and pursue our vision of a diocese that is purposeful about evangelism, engaging creatively with local communities, becoming more diverse and growing younger.

Celebrating and sharing what is good in our existing ministry, and being courageous in naming what needs reimagining is at the heart of what we are trying to achieve as we work towards our strategic goals. The Lichfield Learning Platform, as a central resource, will enable us to equip and support the whole diocese in this venture.

Much of the ministry that takes place in our local communities is offered by those who are not in licensed forms of ministry (Lay Readers and Clergy). We want to support and equip personal discipleship and this wide range of ministry by providing a comprehensive suite of on-line learning opportunities that are easily accessible at the point of need.

We are looking to recruit a Local Ministry and Learning Platform Officer to lead the development of our diocesan learning hub by creating and sourcing content and maintaining the platform.

The right candidate will be someone who:

  • has a passion for supporting ministry at the local level and is confident in building relationships with people in parishes and other settings.
  • has experience of developing or managing an on-line learning platform or other computer systems.
  • has experience of creating and delivering programmes of learning for Christian adults.
  • is excited by the prospect of working with people across the breadth of ministry in the Church of England (e.g. from finance to youth work!).
  • has experience of working across a broad range of theological perspectives.

As an equal opportunities employer, we particularly welcome applications from UKME / GMH candidates.

It is an occupational requirement in accordance with schedule 9 paragraph 1 of the Equality Act for the holder of this role to be a practising Christian.

Salary: £41,765 plus employer pension contribution of 12% and Life Assurance.  25 days annual leave, plus 3 additional diocesan days set annually and statutory bank holidays.
Hours: 35 hours per week with some evening and weekend working required.
Contract: Permanent.

For an informal discussion please contact Jeanette Hartwell (Director of Ministry).
