Kay is to be ordained as a deacon on Saturday 25 June and will serve her curacy at Edgmond with Kynnersley and Preston Wealdmoors; Tibberton with Bolas Magna and Waters Upton.
Kay now lives in Shrewsbury but grew up in Wem in North Shropshire and is proud to call herself a Wemian. As a child Kay went to church with her family and started working in the church as a teenager helping with Sunday School. This eventually led to being a member of the PCC and when she moved to Shrewsbury, set up Messy Church and later became a church warden.
Kay has worked in early years care and education for 30 years and should be confident to hold a baby for baptism!
Kay has a heart for children and after a wonderful inspiring chaplaincy placement with the hospice hopes to explore chaplaincy further during curacy.
Kay has lived and trained in a variety of parishes where she has enjoyed listening to people’s stories, she says it is a privilege to talk with people and be entrusted with their hopes and fears, to share their dark times as well as their celebrations.
Kay says, “Don’t let anything stop you from exploring your vocation, I had misgivings about training due to my age, but was given a Bible passage, Luke 2:25-38, Anna wasn’t too old, and neither was I!”
Find others who will share the journey with you, their support and encouragement will help to sustain you. Trust in God, know His peace and pray that if it is His will, he will continue to open the doors.
