The work of local community groups was celebrated at a special service in Acton Trussell.
Fifty people gathered for the event at Acton Trussell Community Centre, on Sunday morning, 5 February.
The contributions of 15 different local initiatives were celebrated, with Maggie Warford from St Luke's Cannock speaking about The Children's Society. She gave examples of how, in the West Midlands, the Children's Society is supporting vulnerable teenagers as they work through troubled times.
Eleanor Simms (pictured), one of 385 Childrens Society Church Ambassadors in the diocese, received a certificate recognising 15 years of service.
She said: "Often children find themselves in trouble through no fault of their own, and it's so important to offer them help to make good choices as they go forward in life."
The Children's Society was a beneficiary of last year's Bishops Lent Appeal, and in the autumn will be running a conference exploring a theology of asylum in support of 2017s Lent Appeal.
The service was held by the Parish of Acton Trussell with Bednall in the context of Sunday morning worship, with gratitude expressed to local groups for the contribution they make locally. The parish has raised over 26,000 for The Childrens Society since the 1980s.
