The Christian imperative to take care of the poor often pulls together those who disagree about other issues. Churches of different denominations work together in foodbanks, street pastors, debt counselling, and many other ways.
An example of this is the Sandwell Churches Link Project which has brought together churches for this task for over twenty years. Sandwell Metropolitan Borough brings together six distinct and individual historic towns, sandwiched between Birmingham and Wolverhampton, and straddles the borders of Church of England dioceses (Birmingham, Lichfield & Worcester), Methodist Circuits, and includes many independent and Pentecostal churches, as this video from last month's conference shows:
The first keynote speaker at this year's, Canon Paul Hackwood, is chair of the national Church Urban Fund: the second keynote speaker councillor Steve Eling is Deputy Leader of SMBC who provided the venue.
