The grandsons of a former Bishop of Lichfield are scaling Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for charity in his memory.
The Right Revd Keith Sutton served as the 97th diocesan Bishop of Lichfield from 1984 to 2003. He died in March 2017 aged 82 after living with dementia for many years. Bishop Keiths wife Jean suffered with early onset Alzheimers and was supported by many in the Diocese before her death in 2000.
The fondly remembered couples grandchildren Joshua and Joseph Sutton (aged 18 and 19) will begin their charity challenge on Bank Holiday Monday, 27 August.
They aim to raise 3,500 for the Alzheimers Society and people from the Diocese can support them through their Just Giving page.
Keiths son and Joshuas father Paul Sutton said: My father and mother loved Lichfield Diocese and its people. Joshua and Joseph are setting off to climb Kilimanjaro in aid of the Alzheimers Society in memory of their grandparents. They have been very keen to pay for their flights and other costs so that the money they raise goes directly to charity.
Tributes to the couple were made from throughout the world following Bishop Keiths death, including from Archbishop Desmond Tutu who Bishop Keith supported in South Africa at the height of the Apartheid struggles.
