FaithAction Coffee House: World Alzheimer's Month

Date: 8th September 2021

Time: 11:00am - 12:00pm

Join us as we look at how faith based groups can support people with dementia.

About this event

We’re holding a fornightly FaithAction Coffee House for all of our members.

With the help of one or two guest speakers, we will facilitate a conversation on a topic of interest to you, before opening the floor for each of you to share any stories, best-practices, or challenges you’ve faced. It’s an opportunity for each of you to share what you’ve learnt with others, and to glean wisdom and ideas from each other as you learn about what other members around the country are up to.

You’re likely facing many of the same challenges; why not see if anyone else has a solution!

This week's theme is World Alzheimer’s Month!

Following a break for summer, the Coffee House is reopening!

September is World Alzheimer’s Month and the Coffee House will be looking at how faith based groups support people with dementia, their families and carers. Dementia impacts upon many lives, 1 in 14 people over the age of 65 in the UK has dementia, and the condition affects 1 in 6 people over 80. Many faith groups support those affected and this help takes many forms, from signposting people to services to running clubs for carers.

Join us to share your own experiences and hear from our great panellists on:

  • What dementia is
  • The importance of talking about dementia
  • How Covid-19 impacted upon people and their loved ones
  • What faith groups can do to support people in their own communities.

  • Ripaljeet Kaur, BME Dementia Worker, Touchstone Support
  • Sarah Thorpe, Dementia Friendly Churches Enabler, Diocese of Lichfield

We look forward to welcoming you back!
