Speaker Information: Mark McIntyre

Hello everyone. I am Fr Mark McIntyre. I have been vicar of St Gabriel’s Church Walsall for just over ten years and Rural Dean now for just over a year. Prior to moving to Walsall, I was parish priest in Rickerscote, and town centre missioner in Stafford. Prior to that I was Team Vicar at St Andrew’s Porthill in North Staffordshire. I began my ministry as a curate at St James’ Wednesbury.

My passion for evangelism comes out of a real desire to enable and equip the Church Communities of our estates to be effective in sharing the Good News of Jesus. It is a desire for us to have a passionate love for the poor, imitating Jesus the Good Shepherd. Within the Diocese I am exploring what it means to be the lead contact with the National Estates Evangelism Taskforce and how we can develop the work and support of the National Estates Churches Network.

Jeff Guest: Full Time Workplace Missioner & Industrial Chaplain (West Bromwich)

As a Missioner I aim to work with local businesses and, as a result obtain their agreement to have a workplace chaplain visit their business as an independent support for company personnel.  This is from the least to the greatest of those involved, including proprietors and directors.  I have a ‘policy’ document postcard I leave with them to be displayed in the business together with my contact details should anyone need to speak with me.

As a Chaplain I usually visit fortnightly and wander around the business after passing through any Health & Safety training following my introduction to members of staff.

I visit workplaces for Chaplaincy ministry; here I am a confidential listener; work with people involved in economic development; aim to help churches to engage with local business; advise businesses on linking with local churches. Identify, recruit, train, develop & support volunteer chaplains.
