Getting re-acquainted with the Gospel of Mark

Led by Prof Stephen Barton Session 1: Looking at the shape and content of the Gospel as a whole to get a sense of what the good news is according to Mark and how he gets the message across. Session 2: will take the story of the Healing of Blind Bartimaeus in Mk 10.46-52 as a case study for reflection and preaching about Jesus and discipleship. Please have your Bibles handy! Stephen C. Barton is a member of the Ministry Team of St Michael’s Parish in Lichfield. Formerly he lectured in New Testament at Durham University. His books include The Spirituality of the Gospels (1992); and he edited The Cambridge Companion to the Gospels (2006; second edition forthcoming in 2021).
