Diocesan Day of Prayer

Date: 23rd October 2020

Time: 7:00am

"As we follow Christ in the footsteps of St Chad, we pray that the two million people in our diocese encounter a church that is confident in the gospel, knows and loves its communities, and is excited to find God already at work in the world. We pray for a church that reflects the richness and variety of those communities. We pray for a church that partners with others in seeking the common good, working for justice as a people of hope."

(Diocesan Vision Statement)

This is our shared Diocesan Vision – will you join us in praying for the fulfilment of this vision for our diocese? Please pray for this within your own context of parish, chaplaincy, schools, fresh expressions and also within your deanery context as we take forward ‘Shaping for Mission’.

A Diocesan Day of Prayer is to be held starting on Friday 23rd October at 7.00am and finishing 24 hours later, to provide an opportunity for individuals and groups within the diocese to pray for our shared mission in fulfilment of our Diocesan Vision.  Poster

We are inviting specific groups such as deaneries, diocesan departments, chaplaincies, schools, fresh expressions and the cathedral to opt in for their chosen time slots.

The weekly Diocesan Prayer Diary includes additional prayers which can be used.

We have also invited our global partners and friends from Qu’Appelle, Canada; Nordkirche, Germany and Malaysia and to take part – particularly during the night hours!

There will be opportunity to share news of how the day is progressing on our Diocesan Facebook group, including photographs and short videos. One person from each participating group would need to join the Diocese Facebook Group to upload these.

This initiative is being co-ordinated by Philip Swan and Alex Wolvers. Please contact Denise Keen denise.keen@lichfield.anglican.org to sign up or for more information.
