I’m David Carver, I’ve recently taken an a new role as managing director of Horsleys Removals and Storage, based in Stafford. Prior to taking on my new role at Horsleys, I spent some time working as an IT Project Manager installing sales and accounting systems, and before that I was a director of a builders merchant in Wolverhampton. My wife Tracy is a solicitor, our daughter is a town planning consultant, and our son is a Formula 1 design engineer. I also volunteer with Samaritans, which is something that I find tremendously fulfilling.
I have progressed within in the church on a slightly random path, initially as a PCC member (a role I still hold), then I went on to deanery synod, I was then elected lay chair of Penkridge Deanery. I stood down as lay chair after nine years and spent some time reflecting on where my calling was within the church. As part of that process of reflection I enrolled on the Pathways course, and as a result of that I offered to train as a Reader.
My parish, St Nicholas Codsall, are keen to re-invigorate my local chapel of ease, St Peter’s Codsall Wood, and we will be commencing a regular Sunday mid-morning family service in addition to the current 8:30 Communion services, I am looking forward to playing my part in this. I will also remain involved in the delivery of worship at St Nicholas Codsall, and I am happy to provide whatever support I can wherever needed.
