Some reflections from our 24-hour of focussed prayer on 22nd and 23rd October 2021
"As we follow Christ in the footsteps of St Chad, we pray that the two million people in our diocese encounter a church that is confident in the gospel, knows and loves its communities, and is excited to find God already at work in the world. We pray for a church that reflects the richness and variety of those communities. We pray for a church that partners with others in seeking the common good, working for justice as a people of hope."
On behalf of the diocesan team, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to all those who took part in the Day of Prayer on Friday 22 and Saturday 23 October. This was our third diocesan 24 hours of prayer, and we were delighted to see the high level of engagement from our deaneries. Once again, we were impressed by the quality and variety of contributions; via Zoom, groups meeting in churches, livestreaming, YouTube and pre-recorded videos. Some of these can be viewed from the following links:

We were also very pleased to be supported by diocesan departments, and by staff and friends of Lichfield Cathedral. It was very helpful to hear about the work and ministries of colleagues and the issues they face, which allows us to pray in a more informed way. We were delighted to have a dedicated Zoom room throughout the 24-hour period and hope that the next time we will see it occupied for the whole time.
We look forward, in the coming weeks, to hearing about the impact the Day of Prayer has had on our deaneries – please do email Denise Keen with your thoughts.
Week by week, the Diocesan Prayer Diary gives ideas to encourage our praying with a focus on three deaneries each week, along with a regular weekly focus on the world church and various roles and ministries around the Diocese. Email Denise to receive the Prayer Diary regularly. A response received from a number of deaneries was that there was insufficient time to plan their contribution – the next Day of Prayer will be held on Friday 8th and Saturday 9th April 2022 – please book the date now! May we be shaped by the Good News of Jesus, the light of the world (Taken from the Shaping for Mission prayer)
