People from a Stoke-on-Trent parish are once again helping to kit local kids out with school uniform after more than 130 children were supported last year.
Chell Parish Uniform Bank sees the parishs churches, St Michaels and Church of the Saviour, team up with Tesco in Kidsgrove to offer families in need pre-loved donated uniforms.
Alongside the uniform initiative, Chell Parish Churches are running a Summers Kool programme on Monday and Friday lunchtimes throughout the summer offering activities including street dance, boxing, multi-sports and arts & craft.
Chell Parish Family Worker Becky Berrisford said: 'We are delighted to be running the Chell Parish Uniform Bank for a second year! After last years amazing success, as we kitted out 137 children from head to toe in uniform, we knew we needed to run this project again.
This year we are running it alongside our Summers Kool programme which provides support to families during the summer holidays. We have teamed up with the Port Vale Foundation, Tesco and Synectics Solutions to provide 12 sessions of activities and food for families, in our parish. We have over 100 parents and children registered to attend each session. Families have been referred via our local schools and through the work we do. Those families, and others in need, will be able to access the uniform bank.
Uniform can be donated at Tesco Kidsgrove and at our churches, we are so very blessed to be able to make a difference. Our God is awesome and then some!
