Visiting Places of Welcome across the Black Country is the favourite part of my job – as I get to meet lovely Places of Welcome Coordinators – who demonstrate such care for their communities and I also get to chat with the wonderful people who attend the Place of Welcome and All Saints Parish Church is no exception. I’ve had two visits to All Saints Parish Church in Streetly recently and both of them have really brightened my day. The Place of Welcome is hosted just inside the church, on the right hand side, as you enter – it’s a cosy area, with wonderful views of the stained glass windows and benefitting from the sun shining through the nearby windows. Served from a trolley, by the lovely Joyce – I was offered a choice of coffee or tea, in a bone china cup or a mug, and with full fat or skimmed milk! There were plentiful plates of biscuits on the tables and everyone was offered toast too. The conversation wasn’t on short supply either, there was lots of friendly chatter and laughter too.
All Saints Parish Church host their Place of Welcome every Wednesday between 11:00 and 12:30, Foley Road East, Streetly, Sutton Coldfield, B74 3JL, but that’s not all they do, they also host concerts and Messy Church – so do go along and see what is on offer in your local community!
