I am Jan Firth and currently worship at St Michael's, Rushall where I am also a chorister and a warden. I have a doctorate and have been working at the University of Wolverhampton for the last 25 years, having been in teaching and education all my working life. I retire from the University soon and will be taking up a post as the Net Zero Carbon Officer for the Diocese. I feel that God is calling me to work in this area. I see a mission opportunity in almost everything I do now - where as previously it was confined to things I did in Church or in the community. Now I seek to engage with all groups and people in different walks of life. In terms of ethical and justice mission I am passionate about environmental issues- so eco theology has become a particular interest. I love talking to other Churches about going carbon net zero and the eco church initiative .
My focus once licensed will be on the 5th mark of mission, caring for God's creation, having worked on achieving the first gold eco church award in the Diocese I will continue with this work. I am also passionate about music and will continue to contribute to working on prayer and worship through music. I will be part of the ministry and pastoral team within the parish.
