Iconic pottery firm Wedgwood has thrown its weight behind an innovative crowdfunding campaign which will offer a warm welcome in local communities in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.
Places of Welcome is an initiative that is spreading across the West Midlands, with over 150 venues where every week people are free to belong, connect and contribute.
Wedgwoods specially-made Places of Welcome souvenir mugs are among the rewards available to those sponsoring the crowdfunding campaign.
The Places of Welcome movement is a growing network of hospitality run by local community groups who want to make sure that everyone in their area has a place to go for a friendly face, a cup of tea and a conversation. The campaign is for a Places of Welcome coordinator for Staffordshire and Stoke so that there are recognised places in every local neighbourhood.
Chris Perkins, Head of World of Wedgwood, said: Theres no better way to build community than by offering a cup of tea and hospitality to anyone who needs it. It is great to be able to offering our bespoke mugs as rewards for people who act generously to support this worthwhile campaign.
The Wedgwood mugs are among a selection of imaginative rewards for people who pledge money to the campaign which already has one-third of the funds required for the part-time coordinator.
The Bishop of Stafford, the Right Revd Geoff Annas, said: Many churches and other groups have venues and volunteers who can naturally provide opportunities for people to meet together in ways where friendships can grow.It is wonderful that Wedgwood are backing this campaign to help this potential reach fruition through Places of Welcome across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.
