Bishop blesses new base

The Bishop of Lichfield was joined by the family of one of his predecessors at the opening of a new Diocesan base.

Staff from the Diocesan Board of Education, Vocations & Training, Mission, Transforming Communities and Ministry Support departments, along with the PAs to the Archdeacons of Walsall and Lichfield, have moved to the offices at Three Spires House near Lichfield City train station.

The facilities include a meeting room called The Sutton Suite which is named after the 97th Bishop of Lichfield, the Rt Revd Keith Sutton, who served from 1984 to 2003 before his death last year aged 82.

His children, Paul and Jacqui, were guests at the opening last Wednesday where the current Bishop of Lichfield, the Rt Revd Dr Michael Ipgrave, blessed the new offices.

Bishop Michael said: Bishop Keith embodied the diocesan priorities of discipleship, vocation and evangelism so it is very fitting that he will be remembered by all who visit Three Spires House.

Diocesan Chief Executive Julie Jones added: Our outward facing teams have come together under one roof as we seek to support parishes, churches, fresh expressions and schools to know and love their communities and to share the Good News of Jesus. This fresh focus of resources is about equipping the people of God to fulfill our shared vision.
