NewRevs 2025 - Laura Edwards

Laura will serve her curacy in the benefice of Burntwood, Chase Terrace, Chasetown and Hammerwich.

Laura leaves her role in the dicoesan mission team after eight-and-a-half years of supporting churches with children's ministry. She describes it as having been a wonderful role and has been great preparation for a role in ministry.

She has been in church since early childhood and could recite all the liturgy including the vicar's parts from an early age! Some of her earliest memories are of being in church.

"Other people started recognising my calling before I did, asking me to get involved in mission and ministry in church and asking if I had thought about ordained ministry" she says. "Once God started to 'prod' me, it was relentless, I tried to ignore it at first but it just got stronger. So I decided to push doors to see if they opened and they did.

"I am so looking forward to curacy at St John's community church. I have spent a lot of my career working in the community, managing SureStart programmes and meeting people where they are. This time will be different as I will be doing it in an ordained role."

She is moving to Burntwood with two teenage daughters and Frank, a cockapoo.
