Imogen grew up in church and from a young age was very adamant that she wasn’t going to be a priest. Now approaching her deaconing, she realises that God has quite the sense of humour! Having grown up in different areas, she feels at home in the West Midlands where she lives with her husband Ben, enjoying time with family and friends, board games and lots of baking.
Imogen believes that God is calling her to minister in urban areas where lots of people meet and bring their stories and cultures together. She is passionate about parish ministry ‘meeting people where they’re at’ and getting involved in where God is at work in the local area.
Before training for ministry, Imogen was working as a music coordinator in Walsall and at a tearoom in Wolverhampton. She’s found the biggest misconception about preparing for ministry to be that you have to become a new or different sort of person. God calls us as we are, and preparing for ministry is part of figuring out what that most true version of ourselves looks like – bringing your whole self to that is important!
For anyone exploring what God is calling them to do, Imogen would say go for it! Talk with people you trust, seek sage advice and most importantly pray.
