Is God calling?

As a diocese we believe everyone is called. We believe calling is both general and specific; both corporate and individual; both to the world and to the Church. Some people experience a specific 'call' or 'vocation' to a particular job, role or ministry which may not necessarily be connected with the church e.g. carer, teacher, administrator. Some people receive a specific call to ministry in the church.

If you would like to deepen your faith and  explore your calling:

  • Talk to your Vicar: They may be able to suggest books for you to read to develop your understanding of ministry and will be able to talk with you about your sense of call.
  • Join Pathways: Anyone interested in exploring their faith, is invited to come onto the Pathways course. You can start Pathways in September, January or May. You can take up to three modules which will explore some aspects of theology, understanding the Bible and also provides time and space to reflect on the gifts and calling of each participant. Pathways is an online programme and you need access to a computer and Wi-Fi. More information is available here.

  • Join the Chad Foundations programme: A new one year programme of study designed to give people the opportunity to explore what it means to be called to serve God and others, through recognised lay ministry.  Chad Foundations aims to encourage and prepare those who wish to explore a lay calling, including those considering Reader ministry. The programme is designed to be flexible, accessible, and inclusive for those who have busy lives.

  • Speak to a Vocations Adviser: For more information about Vocations Advisers please contact Cath Hughes.
