Section 26: Authorship, Copyright and Public Statements

Publication

While it is not our intention to inhibit the writing and publishing activities of our employees, some control is necessary. You must obtain the permission of the Diocesan Secretary before undertaking the writing of any books or other publications related to your work with the DBF, the work of Diocesan Synod or related bodies.

If you receive a fee for publishing material relating to your work with the DBF or the work of Diocesan Synod or related bodies, the DBF reserves the right to claim it in whole or part, especially if DBF official time or administrative support has been used in its preparation.

The DBF is entitled to have assigned to it the copyright of any work produced by an employee relating to the Board of Finance, Diocesan Synod and/or its subordinate bodies.

The DBF accepts no financial responsibility for the publication of such works even when official permission for publication has been obtained, except where publication is undertaken by direction of the Diocesan Secretary.

Public Statements

You must not write letters or make public statements to the press on any matter relating to the work of the DBF, Diocesan Synod or related bodies where there may be a perceived conflict of interest, without prior approval from the Diocesan Secretary or Communications Director.
