Section 24: Church Governance Bodies & other Trusteeships or Public offices

You must not accept membership of Bishop’s Council, due to this also being the non-executive directorship and trustee body of the DBF. Before standing for election to Diocesan Synod or General Synod you should discuss this with the Diocesan Secretary.

Before accepting a trusteeship of a local or faith-based charity, you should discuss this with the Diocesan Secretary to consider any conflict of interests.

Before accepting candidature in a parliamentary or local government election, you must seek permission from the Diocesan Secretary, permission not being withheld unless there is concern over your capacities to hold this alongside your work or a perceived conflict of interest. A short period of special paid leave for voluntary or unpaid public service may be granted at the discretion of the DBF.
