COP26 resources and national events

COP26 runs from 31st October till the 12th of November. Below are national resources and online events you and your church can use during this period.

From Tearfund

During COP26, we’ll be sharing daily updates, photos and prayer points direct from Glasgow to help cover this crucial summit in prayer. The best ways to stay connected are:

  • Sign up for SMS prayer updates. These weekly climate-themed prayer points focus on justice for those living in poverty. During COP26, we’ll send daily updates with insights on the negotiations, key areas for prayer, and messages from friends from around the world. To sign up, save our number +44 (0)7916 874441 as a contact, and text us the word ‘PRAY’.

  • Follow us on social media. Follow Tearfund Action on Twitter for up-to-the-minute alerts and reflections, and join the Tearfund Campaigners (UK) Facebook group to share ideas and questions with a community of Christians in the UK.  Don’t forget that you can follow Tearfund on Facebook and Instagram for more general news and stories too.

  • Pray using Lectio 365. In the first week of November, Ruth Valerio, Tearfund’s Global Advocacy and Influencing Director, will be the guest host of a new series of devotionals on the free Lectio 365 prayer app from 24/7 Prayer, exploring God’s call to care for the world and our most vulnerable neighbours.
  • Saturday 6 November: Day of action (UK)
Find out how you and your church can get involved with nationwide marches for climate justice on Saturday 6 November.
  • Sunday 7 November: COP26 church service (UK and global)
An international climate-themed service – a way for your church to join in with prayer and worship for climate justice. Your church can get involved by sharing our pre-recorded video, or by joining our livestream.
  • Thursday 11 November: Doxecology COP26 Concert (Glasgow)
A night of worship and prayer with Resound Worship on the final night of their Doxecology tour.

  • Keep an eye on Tearfund’s webpage. This will be updated regularly with the latest events.

As we draw closer to COP26, it’s crucial that we don’t lose focus on the impact that the climate crisis is having on people living in poverty. Our latest short film series, Frontlines of climate change, features Tearfund staff from around the world sharing their firsthand experience of the climate crisis. Why not take some time to watch the films over the next week, making space to pray and listen to God?
